So thirsty. Parched lips. Yet I will praise YOU!

“O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory.”

Oh, dear Abba, I need you! This life can seem like too much to handle. Many days I wake up feeling dry,
empty, and uninspired. Sometimes I feel hunted by the enemy, haunted by my past, or frustrated with other people’s actions toward me. David knew what to do in those situations. I know what I have to do, too. I declare that I have seen glimpses of your goodness, glory, power, and beauty. I know I can trust you, when everything around me swirls around me like a hurricane. You will refresh me and I will be satiated. I will praise you whether I feel like it or not… For you are good. You are kind. You watch over your children.

“Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

“On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night. Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.

Thank you for assurances that I can trust you to know best for all parties involved, and that you only allow the trials and tribulations when it brings you glory and helps to make me to become more like Jesus. In the end, justice and vindication are yours and yours alone. Help me to forgive. Help me to trust. Help me to live abundantly, overflowing in love and grace – just as you’ve given me.

“They who seek my life will be destroyed; they will go down to the depths of the earth.
They will be given over to the sword and become food for jackals.

“But the king will rejoice in God; all who swear by God’s name will praise him, while the mouths of liars will be silenced.” –  Psalm 63, NIV

I will rejoice in YOU, Abba. I will speak good of you today. Thank you for providing what I need to face the day. May you be glorified in my actions and speech today. In Jesus’ name…
