Peace beyond comprehension (Warrior Princess Series)

May our Prince of Peace strengthen you through His Word today!
And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7

Lessons about contentment, peace, and trust are everywhere in my life right now. Maybe some of the increased frequency is due to Thanksgiving? Regardless, The Lord's been training me on these for a LONG TIME. Maybe I have a thick bunker-grade skull? Whatever the reason, let’s just say that this Warrior Chick has a long way to go in those areas. So, what better topic to delve into for study and share? Ha!

Recently I read somewhere, “Peace is a person, not a “thing” to be had.” That spoke some powerful truth to me. Out of curiosity, I looked up the Biblical definitions of peace.

Short Definition: "freedom from worry" (Greek-English Lexicon of NT).
Long Definition: "the tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and content with its earthly lot, of whatsoever sort that is." - The exhaustive concordance of the Bible

My daily tendencies don't look peace-full at all! Instead, I tend to:
1.     Grasp for peace, as a goal, which exhausts me. Remember the little train who thought she could? "I think I can, I think I can…" Whew. It's wearing me out just thinking about climbing over that hill! I might "get there" but I'll wear myself down in the process.
2.     Focus on circumstances, even though I know only the Prince can bring contentment.

Warrior princesses may get discouraged, but they don't stay there. They seek their Prince, knowing He does supply the contentment (even if they don’t feel it). They strive daily to trust Him for their best. They can’t always control their circumstances, but they choose to believe their mighty Prince of Peace is with them in Spirit – and then act on that truth.
Today, this Warrior Princess will remember that in all circumstances:
  • My Prince of Peace is always with me.
  • My Prince of Peace is always working out good in my life.

Today’s verse: Philippians 4:7
Father, thank you that Peace is a Person, our very own Prince! Help us remember. Convict us when we are tempted to worry or try to find contentment in our own “plans.” Teach us what it means to be filled with your peace. Fill us with all joy and peace in believing, so we will abound in hope by the power of your Holy Spirit. Thank you, for my Prince’s sacrifice and promise…
My lover and friend will return for me.
I will be ready.
And we will live happily ever after.
In Jesus' name…
